Overview
When guests book direct, you're responsible for collecting the right taxes (unlike OTAs, which often collect on your behalf). Tax Settings let you configure rates per listing or per region.
Configuring taxes
Open Settings → Tax to set up tax types:
- Occupancy / lodging tax — typical for short-term rentals
- Sales tax — varies by jurisdiction
- Tourist / city tax — flat fee or percentage
- Custom — anything else your jurisdiction requires
Each tax can be:
- A flat amount (e.g., $5 per night)
- A percentage of the rent
- Inclusive (already in the listed price) or exclusive (added at checkout)
Per-listing overrides
If your listings span multiple cities or states, override the default tax settings per listing.
What guests see
At checkout, taxes appear as itemized line items so the total is transparent. The booking confirmation email lists each tax for the guest's records.
Reporting
Tax collected is shown in Earnings so you can hand off totals to your accountant at quarter-end.
