Overview

A short-term rental door is a high-traffic door: new hands every few days, luggage against the frame, codes punched in the rain. KeyInCode builds commercial-grade keypad locks for exactly that duty — hardware in the vein of its 4500 and 5500 series that property managers pick when residential locks keep wearing out.

The hardware being sturdy does not make the code churn go away. ProhostAI takes that over: connect your KeyInCode account, assign each lock to its listing, and every reservation gets its own code with a validity window built from the stay — set ahead of check-in, removed after checkout, adjusted when the dates move.

Guests get their code without you in the loop. A template variable inserts it into scheduled check-in messages and the digital guidebook. And when a guest asks for it again at 11pm, your AI employee can look the code up — or unlock the door outright — on request, with every action audited and rate-limited.

Guest access

A unique code per reservation — Every booking gets its own keypad code with a window built from the stay dates — active shortly before check-in, gone after checkout. The same PIN works on every lock assigned to the stay, so the building entrance and the suite door match.
Phone-digit codes where supported — Where the lock supports it, the guest’s code is the last four digits of their phone number, with a safe random fallback when needed.
Delivered in messages and the guidebook — A template variable drops the right code into scheduled messages and the guest guidebook, so instructions always match the door.“Suite 2B code: 8145. It activates at 3pm on your check-in day.”

Guest door control from the guidebook — For locks you enable, guests can lock and unlock straight from their digital guidebook during the stay — rate-limited, and only while the booking is active.
Codes track date changes and cancellations — A shifted stay moves the code window; a cancellation removes the code. Rebooked doors never carry orphaned codes.
An audit trail per door — Unlocks, code changes and failures land in a per-device timeline — the operational memory a multi-door building needs.
Failures surface before guests do — If a code fails to set — lock unreachable, battery dead — it is tracked and surfaced so you can act before arrival, not after the complaint.

How to connect KeyInCode

Connecting KeyInCode takes a few minutes and happens entirely in the browser:

1In ProhostAI, open Smart Devices and choose Connect account.
2Pick KeyInCode in the secure connection window and sign in with your KeyInCode account credentials.
3Your locks sync in automatically with battery and connection status.
4Assign each lock to its listing with a name guests recognize (Main entrance, Suite 2B).
5From the next reservation on, codes are created, delivered and removed automatically.

KeyInCode’s smart locks are powered by the KoreLock platform; you connect with your regular KeyInCode account and nothing changes at the door.

ProhostAI manages only the reservation codes it creates — staff and owner codes you programmed stay on the lock.

Connected devices are a paid add-on billed per device, and ProhostAI never sees or stores your KeyInCode password.
