Nuki made the smart lock that actually fits European doors. Connect your Nuki Web account and ProhostAI adds the missing half: guest access that creates, delivers and retires itself with every reservation.

Overview

Most smart locks are built for American deadbolts, which is no help on a euro-profile cylinder in Lisbon, Vienna or Barcelona. Nuki took the opposite route: the Nuki Smart Lock mounts over the cylinder on the inside of the door and turns the key you leave in it — no drilling, no new lock, and the door looks unchanged from the corridor. That’s made it the default choice for European short-term rentals.

ProhostAI plugs Nuki into your booking calendar. Sign in with your Nuki Web account, assign each lock to a listing, and every reservation gets its own entry code valid from just before check-in until checkout — on doors with a Nuki Keypad, that’s what the guest types to get in. Where possible the code is the last four digits of the guest’s phone number, with a random fallback.

Everything downstream is automatic: the code lands in scheduled messages and the digital guidebook via a template variable, date changes move the code’s window without changing the digits, and cancellations remove it. If you enable it, guests can even lock and unlock the door from that same guidebook during their stay.

For connectivity, newer Nuki models have WiFi built in; earlier ones reach the internet through a Nuki Bridge. Either way, if your Nuki has remote access, ProhostAI can manage it.

What ProhostAI can do with Nuki

Once your Nuki Web account is connected and locks are assigned to listings, this runs continuously:

Guest access

Entry codes scoped to the reservation — Each booking gets its own code with a validity window derived from the stay — active shortly before check-in, removed after checkout, never shared between guests.
Memorable by design — Where supported, the code is the last four digits of the guest’s own phone number; a safe random code fills in when those digits are unavailable or already on the lock.
Several doors, one stay — A street door and an apartment door can both belong to the same listing — each Nuki gets a recognizable name and the guest gets working access to both.“Code 6640 opens both the building door and Apartment 2B.”

Automation

The AI answers door questions — Your AI employee can report a stay’s entry code, generate one, or lock and unlock a Nuki on request — audited with an actor trail, rate-limited, and codes for cancelled or past bookings are never handed out.
Codes reconcile with the calendar — When a booking shifts, the code’s window shifts; when it cancels, the code is removed. The lock never holds access the calendar no longer justifies.
Failures raised, never swallowed — Every code change is confirmed by the lock. A Nuki that’s offline or low on battery shows up as a tracked, surfaced failure while there’s still time to fix it.

How to connect Nuki

Connecting Nuki is a short browser flow:

1In ProhostAI, open Smart Devices and choose Connect account.
2Pick Nuki in the secure connection window and sign in with your Nuki Web account.
3Your Nuki locks sync in as devices with battery and connection status.
4Assign each lock to its listing and name it the way guests will meet it (Street door, Apartment door).
5From the next reservation on, guest access creates and retires itself.

Good to know

Guests type their code on a Nuki Keypad — pair one with each lock guests should open by code.

Newer Nuki Smart Locks connect over built-in WiFi; earlier generations use a Nuki Bridge for remote access. Remote reachability from your Nuki account is what ProhostAI needs.

Access you configured yourself in the Nuki app — family, cleaners, neighbors — is untouched; ProhostAI manages only what it created.

Connected devices are a paid add-on billed per device, and sign-in is OAuth-style: your Nuki password never reaches ProhostAI.
